The appliance module is a 500W receiver unit that works as a remote controlled switch or relay. You can plug it into any plug socket in the house and control the unit attached to it via X10 commands.
The appliance module can switch incandescent lamps up to 500W, appliances with electric motors up to 250W or halogen floor lamps with foot dimmer up to 500W.
As the X-10 switch is simply inserted into wall sockets like an ordinary plug, there is no installation to be carried out. Just set the wheels on the front to the desired device address (eg. G7) and note this address down.
The load connected to the switch module can still be controlled locally by its own switch, bit dont forget to leave the local switch in the "ON" position, as otherwise the load cannot be controlled by an X-10 controller. Switch the load off by remote control. The unit responds to "standard" X-10 commands. ie. All-Units-Off, On and Off.

Does exactly what is says on the tin. Easy to use product. I'm currently using this in conjunction with a MT12 mini-timer to act as a timer for our boiler. The boiler is located in a garage with a standard plug in timer controlling it. Not very useful if you happen to be in when the timer switches to off, it meant a trip to open the garage and change the timer. X10 solved this problem with no wiring.
