Features

The X10 PC interface is the ideal way of using your PC to enhance your home security, save energy and add convenience to the way you run your home.

  • Choose between USB or serial connectivety to your PC
  • Stand alone operation.
  • Controls timed events and macros.
  • Scheduled events are retained and resume automatically after a power outage.
  • Can control the full range of X10 home automation products.

Works with the PC switched off

Once the interface has been programmed, the PC is no longer needed. Two standard AAA batteries retain the built-in clocks accuracy. The macros are held in EEPROM and retained even if the power fails. You can even unplug the interface after programming it and plug it in elsewhere in the home.

Connections
The Computer Interface fits between the AC outlet and the computers power plug. A grounded AC socket is provided on the front of the interface for the computers power plug (3A max). Choose the most suitable connection for your PC either a Serial port connection or a USB port. The USB option comes with an easy to install adapter which allows the serial version to be used in a USB port.

Two-way
The Computer Interface is fully two-way, both generating and receiving X10 powerline commands

ActiveHome Software
User friendly 95, 98, 2000 and XP compatible software can be downloaded from the link below for free. The ActiveHome software includes graphical representations of switches, modules etc. to provide point-and-click control of modules, and easy setting of scheduled events and macros

Scheduled Events
Events may be scheduled to occur at a particular time every day, on chosen days only, between chosen dates etc. You can also program the interface to turn lights on at dawn and off at dusk just by choosing your location from a worldwide list.

Macros
A command from a controller(such as a mini controller) normally operates a device directly, e.g. pressing A1 ON switches on the module with code A1. The computer interface, however, can be programmed to intercept a command, and respond to it by generating a whole group of commands called a macro. For example, pressing A1 ON on a controller might turn on stair lights and bedroom lights, then after 20 minutes dim the bedroom lights to 50% and turn off the stair lights, and finally turn off all lights 30 minutes later.

Controls and Indicators

  • AC outlet on front of module for computer power output.
  • RJ11 socket on top face of module for serial connections

I had to buy the CM11/12 as I was unable to connect my CM15Pro to my Linux-based systems. I found the Heyu software to be the best for interacting with the module from a Linux system. This computer module obviously works on Windows too.

Purchased the serial interface and works fine. I\'m using a custom C# .Net application to control this for now. The software that comes with the controller doesn\'t work on the 64-bit edition of Windows 7. Not a biggie for most people but worth noting if you\'re hoping to use the out-the-box software that comes with the controller.
