Product Description

TZ69E from TKB Home is a UK plug module which can be switched on and off by Z-Wave controllers.

As well as on/off switching, the TZ69E provides energy monitoring and will report the consumption of an attached device back to your Z-Wave controller.

This device works well with the major Z-Wave gateways such as Fibaro Home Center 2, Vera, Zipato and Popp.

The TZ69E has an LED to indicate the status of the device (on or off) and this doubles as a button for locally switching the attached load.

As with all mains powered Z-Wave devices, this plug-in module acts as a Z-Wave repeater so strengthens your Z-Wave mesh network.

  1. Works with Smartthings 4 Star Review

Got one of these connected straight away to Samsung SmartThings Hub. The default driver works the switch or a community driver works also with power meter.

  2. Good place to start 4 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Sep 2018

As a z-wave neophyte I've bought one of these to experiment with and it's worked great here. Definitely a useful starter device as it doesn't entail touching the mains circuits (which is next up).

The price is competitive with the name brand wi-fi smart plugs with power monitoring. Thumbs up.

  3. Cheapest Switch with Power Meter I Can Find 4 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Jul 2017

I have 10 of these now and they seem reliable in operation. Eye-wateringly expensive compared to 433MHz switches but they have, for me, several important extras over the 433MHz switches.
    1. better range with a mesh network (you need enough Z-Net devices to repeat the signal to gain the advantages).
    2. 2 way communication between the controller and the switch so you know it's on when it says it is.
    3. They remember their previous state after a power cut so if they were on when the power was cut, yhey'll be on when it comes back. My cheap 43MHz switches always revert to off.
    4. display of the power being used by the device.

The price difference between the switch with power metering and without is small enough that I don't consider it worthwhile going for the cheaper option.
I've just migrated from a Smartthings controller to the Telldus Tellstick Znet Lite V2 so I can control my 433MHz switches from the same platform as the Z-Net switches. So far I'm very impressed with the Tellstick device and software. I think it's streets ahead of the Smartthings experience with a much simpler interface.
