In my last blog I spoke about the devices you can use to automate your home, devices like the X10 Home Automation system that even allows you to manage anything connected to it remotely from your smartphone. Perfect.
So, in this blog, I want to look at some of the stranger devices you can connect to your X10 Home Automation system, and then control remotely. Come on, we all love gadgets, and what’s better than a gadget that controls all our other gadgets? Oh, the hours of fun that await!
Let’s start in the garden, and the first gadget I want to talk about is the Koubachi Wi-Fi Plant Sensor. I don’t know about you, I can cope with most simple tasks in the garden but I wouldn’t say I had a green thumb. Well, this device is your green thumb! By monitoring light, temperature, soil water content and humidity, the Plant sensor can give you all the information you need about your plants.
What about a device that will mow your lawn for you, by itself? Tempting, I know, and Husqvarna have just the solution with their Husqvarna AutoMower. Can you imagine coming home to a manicured lawn and happy house plants? What more could you want? Oh, I know, clean floors.
Floor cleaning robots do exactly what they say on the label. The Mint Plus, for example, will sweep and clean your floors and, of course, connect it to the X10 Home Automation System, and you don’t even need to be in the house when it does it!
And then, if the floors are going to be clean, the last thing you want is a dirty carpet. Agait are one of many companies that make automatic carpet cleaners. Have a look at their EC01 model. Cleaning robots have become a lot more efficient over the last few years. Gone are the days when they would wander around your house aimlessly, or get stuck on the same piece of carpet. Now they know where they’ve been and where they have to go next, so what is stopping you?
This next one is seriously my favourite! I live on the fourth floor and cleaning the windows is always a major, and frankly, scary chore. Not anymore. The E.zicom, E.ziclean Windoro robot can clean your windows for you, and you don’t even have to be in the house to see it done!
