Having trouble with X10 signals transferring from downstairs ring main to upstairs. Added one of these and hey presto.
It is a lot smaller than it looks - only about 50mm square and 20mm thick.

I'm very pleased. This worked much better than I'd hoped.
I wasn't getting from one side of the house to the other, unless I put the transmitter (alarm panel with x10 module) in to a certain socket. I couldn't get a signal in the garage (which is physically closer) nor the outbuildings.
I put the SVX10 on a feed straight off the consumer unit, and now get signals all over the house, in the garage, and the out buildings, which start at about fifty metres from the house.
The x10 transmitter has to be able to get the signal to the consumer unit, obviously, for it to be repeated, which suits me fine. The alarm panel will be situated there soon.
N.B. The wiring in our house is old black and white wiring (mainly) and the consumer unit is old with pull out fuses. The lack of RCDs would have a positive effect on x10 transmission I presume. Hopefully the transmissions will still reach everywhere after I've had the consumer unit updated.

I was having problems with my X10 signal reaching all parts of my house. My house has been extended and therefore has two seperate socket circuits both connected through full ciruit breakers, pretty much isolating each ring main, which caused a lot of problems with X10 signals.
I bought the SVX10 and plugged it in to the opposite ring main to where my X10 interface was connected. After trying a few different sockets, I did manage to get X10 signals working in every part of my house without any problems. It`s dead easy to wire up, just put the SVX10 in a box (I used a socket back box with a blanking plate on top, then secured the cable using cable ties in to the back box. I also stuck the SVX10 down with double sided sticky pad to stop it moving around) connect live and neutral to the terminals and plug it in to a socket. I was going to wire it striaght in to my consumer panel but there wasnt really enough room to do this safely.
Hope this helps somebody.

Simple to install, although a much inproved signal, sadly not as much as I'd hoped for.
